Who I am as a therapist

I have spent many years working towards becoming a therapist. In my education I focused on learning clinical skills and Biblical integration into those skills. I continue to research and learn new skills as I grow. I believe it is my duty as a therapist to be always learning and growing as new research in our field develops.

I operate from a variety of approaches, primarily a cognitive behavioral therapeutic approach, attachment and emotionally focused, with a person-centered framework. I am trained in EFCT, EMDR, CPT and narrative therapy as well. I find this eclectic approach works well, as I am able to meet my client and assess which is the best approach. I believe therapy has to be a collaborative process and encourage clients to actively participate in the therapy process. We work together to set SMART goals, and achieve them.

My vision

My vision is to bring quality mental health care into Christian communities. I value working alongside pastors and supporting their communties. I have a trauma-informed approach to my practice and enjoy working with women who are ready to write a new chapter in their story. Having been through trauma and recovery myself, I know how important it is to have the right support at the right time.

I also have the goal of helping couples who need support through difficulties. I am trained in EFT (emotionally focused therapy) and find it is beneficial to helping couples identify the negative cycle they have remained stuck in and help move towards oneness. I am certified for Prepare/Enrich and use their assessments to work with married couples or couples thinking about and preparing for marriage. I have experience leading marriage ministry with my husband through Family Life ministries, and this experience lends well to my work as a therapist.

My core values

At my core, I believe in Jesus as my Lord and savior. I am a sinner saved by His grace and I have compassion for others. I enjoy integrating faith and clinical counseling into my work if a client desires that. I am honored to be able to sit alongside women in their pain and minister to their heart.
